Dr John Unsworth, based in Essex, UK, has specialist knowledge of environmental
and analytical chemistry in the areas of study design and monitoring.
This includes the interpretation of results and the linking of studies
to give an overall profile of a product, as well as dossier review. As
a consultant to EuroChemLink, this expertise will be available for all
areas of regulatory management.
For over 30 years, John Unsworth has been involved in the agrochemical
industry covering all aspects of environmental and analytical chemistry
including metabolism, residues, method development, product chemistry
and formulation stability. Starting his career in the laboratory for
May
& Baker in the UK, John subsequently held various management positions
before becoming director of environmental chemistry for Rhône-Poulenc
Agro, based in Lyon, France. In this role he was responsible for organising
all studies required for the registration of products on a global basis.
This position brought him into contact with the major regulatory authorities
and gave him a good understanding of their requirements and needs. Additional
experience includes managing research and development teams in the UK,
and most recently in France, as head of the Bayer CropScience R&D
Centre in Lyon.
John received an honours degree and a doctorate in chemistry from London
University. He is currently a member of the IUPAC Advisory Committee
on Crop Protection Chemistry (formerly the Commission on Agrochemicals
and the Environment). John is fluent in French.
